* About this research
These data probe the attitudes of those who DID NOT SHOP for a vehicle or who SHOPPED BUT DID NOT BUY a vehicle in the past 18 months. ART wanted to understand the difference between those who were exposed to today's vehicle purchase experience, those who shopped but did not buy, and those who shopped and, in fact, did buy a vehicle (Part 1).
What these data indicate is that those who did not shop were much more negative about the purchase experience than those who have recently experienced the car buying process. One conclusion that may be drawn is that attitudes of this population are being shaped by outdated experiences or by outdated perceptions-because they have not even been in a new car dealership recently.
PLEASE NOTE: These data represent a segment of the population which has NOT purchased a vehicle. It is incorrect to draw any conclusions about the overall car buying experience based on these data. Please reference Part 1 for attitudes among those who have been exposed to today's car buying experience. As Part 1 demonstrates, those who have been exposed to this experience and who have purchased a vehicle are overwhelming positive about this experience.
